La Llorona Project

For centuries, our community has preserved the tale of La Llorona though oral storytelling. And yet, to date, little effort has been made to formally investigate sightings or incidents. This, however, is about to change!

Two of the Spanglish Girl Bloggistas are cryptozoologist and paranormal fanatics and as such, they have embarked on a journey to capture, record, and investigate La Llorona sightings throughout the U.S. and Mexico—but first, they will need your help:

If you or someone you know has experienced a Llorona incident, please share your story with us by completing the form below. We plan to record and map sighting for some time and then eventually research and investigate the sightings to determine if La Llorona’s spirit is indeed among us.

Call us locas if you’d like, but we believe that La Llorona deserves her place among the greatest mysteries of North America. And for this reason, believe this project is necessary, not only to document but to also help preserve one of the greatest mysteries in Mexican folklore.

Of course, we plan to share our finding with you all, so be sure to check back regularly! We will be highlighting some of the most promising sightings and incidents and we plan to make this page the go to place for all things La Llorona.
