Lo Que La Vida Me Robó: Spanglish Girl’s Recap & Review Dec 23- Jan 3

This week’s blog covers the last two weeks of episodes because as some of you may have noticed– there was no blog last week: I’ll blame it on the holidays.

Ok, let’s start with the two hour episodes: Loving them! Thank you Univision! I enjoyed them while they lasted.

So last week, Alejandro and José Luis  were ambushed and Alejandro was shot. José Luis honorably saved Alejandro, and although he takes aim at him, he decides not to shoot him. Montserrat nurses Alejandro to health, but she also continues to question his love for her, and while he is still in bed recovering from the gun shot, she accuses him of lying about his involvement in José Luis’s incarceration.

Montserrat’s aunt also arrives at the Hacienda and makes herself right at home. With her aunts knowledge of the events that led up to her marriage, and Alejandro’s recent visit to her parents’ house, Montserrat does her best to decipher what type of a deal her mother and Alejandro really made to get her to marry him.

Of course, Montserrat gets its all twisted: Instead of putting the pieces together correctly, she falsely accuses Alejandro of having killed Bruno Gamboa and of framing José Luis for the murder. We know that Alejandro had nothing to do with it, but Montserrat believes otherwise. She in fact thinks Alejandro is a monster!

Montserrat confronts Alejandro with her accusations, and he becomes enraged (because she’s wrong!). He decides to settle her curiosity once and for all by inviting El Capitan Robledo to the Hacienda, so that he can tell Montserrat that Alejandro had nothing to do with José Luis’s incarceration or death.  Alejandro also invites Esmeralda, so that she can confirm that Alejandro never hired her to say she was married to José Luis.

Montserrat of course fears that they will recognize José Luis, so she begs Alejandro not to invite them. Montserrat warns José Luis about the visitors, and he along with Refugio decides to hide out in a shack until they leave.

Another notable moment was Dimitrio and Josefina’s “marriage.” Josefina’s brother arrives in town and discovers what Dimitrio and Adolfo did; he becomes enraged and confronts Dimitrio’s parents. Dimitrio’s dad promises he will make Dimitrio marry Josefina, but Dimitrio and Adolfo run away to hide at Alejandro’s Hacienda.

Last week ends with the Hacienda being full of visitors. With all of the extra guests, Montserrat and Alejandro do their best to put up a front, but everyone sees the cracks in their marriage. Montserrat also finds José Luis kissing Angelica in the shack by the river.

The second week, José Luis and Refugio return to the Hacienda because all of the guests have left. Adolfo and Dimitrio arrive and increase the tension between Montserrat and Alejandro because Alejandro wants them to leave. Montserrat has her hands tied because Dimitrio finds out about José Luis ’s presence and threatens to tell Alejandro if she forces him to leave.

Montserrat has no choice but to convince Alejandro to let Dimitrio and Adolfo stay. She does so by showing Alejandro affection which softens his mood towards Dimitrio. Meanwhile, José Luis  does not want to leave, even though Montserrat has asked him to several times. Once Montserrat realizes that Alejandro had nothing to do with Jose Luis’s incarceration, she begins to see the error of her ways.

Montserrat finds herself falling in love with Alejandro while still being in love with José Luis. She tries to run away one last time, but she fails when she runs into Adolfo. Alejandro finds out about her intent and becomes angry. He fires Rosario because he believes it is she who helped Montserrat run away. Montserrat regrets having tried to run away, and even admits that she has acted like a fool.

Montserrat makes it clear to José Luis that she is not going to leave with him. Montserrat decides that the only way to make José Luis believe her is to let him see how much she is in love with Alejandro.  In an effort to do so, she accompanies Alejandro to a fair where, once more, he is the target of a gunman. But, like before, José Luis saves the day and no one gets hurt…just a little beat up.

Tragedy strikes one more time when Juventino sets a barn at the Hacienda on fire. Montserrat was on her way to the barn to meet Rosario, but Rosario was hit over the head with a log by Juventino (what a jerk!). Montserrat realizes that Rosario is in the barn and runs in to save her.

Fortunately, no one is hurt in the fire and Alejandro rehires Rosario after the incident. It is also this incident that leads Alejandro to inform El Capitan Robledo that José Luis is somewhere near the Hacienda. Of course, we won’t know till next week what exactly comes of that, but the preview makes it seem like José Luis’s cover is finally blown.

As you can see the last two weeks of episodes have been quite exciting. Montserrat finally realizes that she is falling for Alejandro and that she does not want to leave with José Luis. I was Team José Luis for a while, but at last I have switched sides. I am now team Alejandro…. I know, I know, some of you might be thinking WHY! Well, I’ll tell you why:

First of all, José Luis is starting to bug. He doesn’t get it that it is too late. Montserrat is already in love with Alejandro, and if José Luis would just accept it, he could move on and be happy with Angelica. Angelica has made her intentions clear—she even made it clear to Montserrat when she told her that with or without her approval, she is going to pursue José Luis (I loved this part!).  And yes, José Luis, does finally admit that he is “losing” Montserrat, but he still doesn’t leave (I know he claims it’s because of Dimitrio, but I’m not buying it).

The only other person bugging me more than José Luis is Montserrat. Here’s why: Although she “says” she is not leaving with José Luis , she still keeps leading him on by admitting that she has feelings for him.  She states in one of the episodes this week that she loves him with “todo” her “alma.”  I mean common! Don’t tell him that! Just tell him you don’t love him anymore! It gives him false hope…

Also, this week we finally see Alejandro put his foot down regarding Maria. Not only does he tell her never to interrupt him and Montserrat if they are alone and talking, but he also scolds her for purposely trying to upset Montserrat by showing him affection: All I can say is this: It’s about time!

Now let’s talk about Angelica: I really like her for José Luis. I also like that she isn’t afraid of Montserrat. If anything, she is every Montserrat is not. Ouch! I know that sounds harsh but so far it is true. Angelica does not care that her family forbids her from seeing Jose Luis. Yes she is still seeing him in hiding, but the girl knows what she wants and she is not afraid to go after it. If Jose Luis ends up with Angelica, I will be a happy novela viewer.

Well Novela Lovers, that is all for this week. I apologize if the blog was long, but I had to cover two hour episodes for the last two weeks.
