Lo Que La Vida Me Robó: Spanglish Girl’s Recap & Review February 24-28

So Maria lives to ruin another day—I can’t believe I actually felt sorry for her! Let’s not forget I shed a tear or two last week on her behalf… Aye Yi Yi! Some people never learn or know when to give up, Maria is one of them.

This girl is loca and in the worst way: she really does need professional help. Wouldn’t it be nice if  she did a complete 180 and realized her wrong doings? Let’s not hold our breaths: this is a novela and without her there would be no conflict, and what is a novela with no conflict? Well, it wouldn’t be a very good novela, and we wouldn’t have much to talk about, so we don’t want that.

So while Maria wasn’t out trying to steal Lauro Jr., she was luring  Jose Luis to the hacienda, so that she could join forces with him to end Alejandro and Montserrat’s love for each other. But because Jose Luis refused to join her in her quest, she instead settled for having him use his authority, as a captain, to possibly incarcerate Alejandro for the recent unlawful activity at the hacienda. The loca actually thinks that the next best way to have Alejandro, all to herself, is if he is in jail!

Of course, she believes he is somehow involved in the activity at the hacienda and that Montserrat will never stand by him if he goes to jail, but we know that is not the case. Montserrat would never abandon Alejandro—at least I don’t think she would. Well, anyway—enough about that crazy Maria.

Let’s talk about the baptism and the godparents. So it’s official: Jose Luis and Angelica will be Lauro Jr’s padrinos. I think I spoke about this last week, and I’ll say it again: why, why, why? El padrecito’s reaction was comical and similar to mine when he shouted, “QUE!”—I mean really, I don’t get it.

At first, I was starting to think that Angelica was trying to reunite Montserrat and Jose Luis. After all, she is going to pass away and knowing that, I figured she wanted to find a way to make sure that Jose Luis would be happy, and what would make Jose Luis happy? Montserrat.  But now I think she believes that she is somehow going to leave Jose Luis with an “extended family” of sorts.

On Friday’s episode, she mentions that she believes Jose Luis and Alejandro can be good friends again, and that when she is gone Montserrat can watch over him. As weird as it sounds, I think those are truly her real intentions. I believe she sees that Alejandro and Montserrat are truly in love and happy, so she doesn’t see the possibility of Jose Luis and Montserrat together in a romantic way, just more so in a friendly way. So maybe she is on to something: I, however, am still confused about the whole thing.

Now, these are couples I rarely talk about, but this week I feel I can’t avoid them: Pedro and Nadia and Esmeralda and Refugio. Pedro is so evil I don’t think the word evil does him justice. In fact, how many of you agree that Pedro and Graciela would be the ideal couple? They deserve each other, too bad it’s not written in the storyline.  Can you imagine the chaos and destruction they would cause! I would leave Agua Azul and seek asylum in another country if those two ever became a couple…lol (just a thought, now let’s get back to the real couples).

Nadia needs to just divorce Pedro already. We know she comes from a well to do family, so I don’t understand why she doesn’t just seek help from her family. I get that Pedro is influential and dangerous, but he is manipulating her with his power: it really is a very unhealthy relationship. Now that Refugio has discovered who beat Esmeralda, I hope he opens an investigation against Pedro and that frees Nadia as well. As for Esmeralda and Refugio, well I’m just glad they are finally back together. Ironically, we have Maria to thank—maybe this is going to be her one good deed for the year…

And what about Josefina? Aye Josefina… she is too nice, but the girl isn’t dumb: I think Adolfo and Dimitrio are really starting to feel something for her. I’m really confused by the whole love triangle between them because although Dimitrio and Adolfo are both con-artist, they truly seem to be fighting over her attention, or are we being duped by them too? Hmmmm, only time will tell. I also am waiting for her to have a complete makeover and then I want her to tell Dimitrio: “eat your heart out.”

Next week looks very interesting! I wonder if Jose Luis will really stop the wedding… I hope not for Angelica’s sake.

That is all.

Until next week, adiós my fellow novela lovers,

Spanglish Girl
